Hair Loss Treatment
Smart Ways To Stop Hair Loss

Hair loss is something that happens every day, even to healthy people. Normally, the rate of fallout is balanced by the rate of growth so the loss of hair is not noticeable and causes no concern.  However, if the hair loss to hair growth balance is not maintained, whether because of insufficient regeneration or excessive rate of falling, some kind of hair loss treatment should be started.

Types of Hair Loss Treatment

Minoxidil (Rogaine) was the first FDA approved hair loss treatment. Solutions containing minoxidil can produce growth of very fine hair in men and women after about six months of use. The new hair growth falls out  when you stop taking the medicine.

Propecia is an FDA approved hair loss treatment for men. It has to be taken once a day orally, and the results have shown some hair growth in approximately two-thirds of men undergoing this type of hair loss treatment. Side effects include diminished libido and semen production.  Propecia works by blocking an enzyme used to create the male hormone DHT, the hormone which causes hair loss. The side effects go away in over half of the men who continue the treatment, and stop completely in when the medication is no longer taken.

Hair transplantation is a hair loss treatment that can be used by both men and women.  This hair loss treatment involves moving hair from the back of the scalp to the top to reduce the appearance of hair loss. Hair transplants should be done by a qualified, experienced physician. However, there are always chances of infections and complications. The surgery might be unsuccessful simply because the transplanted hair will not grow in the new location.

Eating Healthy - Nutrition And Hair Loss Treatment

Diet deficiencies can play a role in hair loss in women. Women should include plenty of iron rich food in their daily diet such as broccoli or brewer's yeast to prevent or reverse hair loss. Vitamin B12 from eggs, meat and poultry should be part of a hair loss treatment diet. The other B vitamins and Biotin are also important.
